Tuition fees in Singapore

Most public universities in Singapore charge high tuition fees that range from 9,000 to around 80,000 USD/per year. However, you can find Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in social sciences, engineering or natural sciences that have tuition fees between 8,000 and 11,000 USD/year.Medicine and health-related programmes usually have higher tuition fees of around 43,000 USD/year and generally, private universities charge higher fees compared to public ones.

Accommodation costs

Most Singapore universities don’t offer campus accommodation, but you can find student housing near campuses; prices for a room are between 560 and 1,200 USD/month.You can also rent or share an apartment; rates start from 1,500 USD and can lead up to 4,000 USD/month.

Health care

All international students have to arrange a private health insurance scheme to have access to medical services in Singapore. You can choose from two insurance schemes that cover any form of illness and injury for a sum of up to 36,650 USD/year.

Food costs

Buying food from the local supermarkets is the best way to save money; your monthly groceries would cost you around 300 USD/month.Many restaurants form the city centre have expensive prices, but you can also find decent diners and pay 12 USD for a meal. Or try some of the street food at even cheaper prices.On average, you'll need at least 1,400 USD/month to live in Singapore.

Student visa for Singapore

Singapore Student Visa Guide

Visa DescriptionAfter receiving their offer letter from the desired institute for a particular course, students need to apply for student pass to enter Singapore. Institutes in Singapore will file the Singapore student pass for Indian application on behalf of the students to Singapore immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA). Applications are submitted through the Student’s Pass On-Line Application & Registration (SOLAR) system. New applications for a Student’s Pass must be submitted at least one month and not more than two months before the commencement of the course.

Cost of Visa 

• Processing Fee
  A processing fee of S$30 (Rs 1,538) is required for every application submitted to ICA. The fee is non-refundable. For submission, via SOLAR+ you’ll be required to make payment by credit/debit card or internet banking. 
• Issuance Fee
  A S$60 (Rs 3,076) issuance fee is charged on every student's pass issued and a further S$30 multiple-entry visa fee. The fee is payable when the successful applicant completes the formality to collect the Student's Pass.

Documents

Following documents will be required for application purposes:

• Valid passport – Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your period of stay in Singapore.
• Completed Student Visa Application Forms – ICA form 16 & Form V36
• Application fee payment receipt, as you are required to pay S$30, which translates roughly to Rs 1,538. An issuance fee of S$60 (Rs 3,076) has to be paid once the Student's Pass is approved and issued.
• The offer letter – You need to have an offer of a place from a Singapore institute/university. The forms are usually issued after the tuition fees have been received.
• Two passport sized photographs (if applicable)
• Bank Statements - Funds to be shown = Tuition fee + 8400 S$
• Fixed Deposit Receipts (if necessary)
• Bank loan sanction letter (if necessary)
• Transcripts, diplomas, degrees, or certificates from schools you attended
• Test scores that your college required, such as the TOEFL, GRE, or GMAT
• How you will pay for all educational, living and travel costs

Note: Additional documentation may be required. During the personal interview, additional documents may be requested by the interviewer. These may be documents to prove evidence of academic or financial status.

WORK PERMIT

Once you’ve been offered a job, your employer will put you forward for a work permit. Which permit you have will depend on your salary, and in most cases as a fresh graduate you’ll need what is called an ‘S Pass.’ If you secure a high-paying job then you might be eligible for an Employment Pass.

Employers in Singapore are only allowed to take on a set quota of foreign employees, and so will need to appeal to relevant authorities before they’re given clearance to take you on.
